Duchray Castle

Nestled in the heart of the Queen Elizabeth Forest lies Duchray Castle, a 500 year old tower house linked with Rob Roy.  Now newly renovated it offers luxury accommodation and a warm welcome in a stunning, secluded location.

Our Story

Frances and Oliver Bigwood

Frances and Oliver Bigwood purchased Duchray Castle in 2010 as an abandoned building site which had been uninhabited for nearly a decade.  It took two years to restore the original tower house and one of the Victorian additions.  The renovation was led by Oliver who has extensive experience in property development, working with a trusted team of skilled tradesmen.  The first stage of the renovation was completed in spring 2013 when we were delighted to open our doors for B&B and weddings guests. Frances has worked as an Event Manager for over 15 years in a variety of hospitality settings.  Frances and Oliver lived in a Victorian annex adjoining the original tower house with their two young children, while the main castle is dedicated space for guests and the business. In 2017 Frances and Oliver took a break from weddings and Bed and Breakfast after the birth of their third child, and started to offer the castle as a self catering space. The Castle will be offered for self-catering again through out 2018.
